About Cheatham County Weather
Cheatham County Weather got it's start in December of 2012 through this blog. At the time, the blog was under a different name "Cheatham Forecast." The intention of the blog was to inform the citizens of Cheatham County about the weather in 2 weekly posts on Sunday and Wednesday. A few weeks past and a severe weather event occurred on January 29, 2013. After the event, various ways were investigated on how to inform people from Cheatham County about the weather. The blog was simply not enough. On February 1, 2013, Cheatham County Weather was created on Facebook. The page was created for up to the minute updates on weather especially severe weather. Since the page was created, we have 1,032 likes and it was discovered that Cheatham County Weather was an important tool for people during severe weather. I have received numerous messages from people saying that Cheatham County Weather was their only source for weather updates due to the power being out. That is what Cheatham County Weather is all about! I have also branched out to Twitter and created CheathamSevereWx (@CheathmSevereWx). I branched out to Twitter for the same purpose as the Facebook page. To inform people about severe weather. After I joined Twitter, I was contacted by @NashSevereWx and we have since joined an effort with the National Weather Service Office in Nashville. That effort is to retrieve storm reports via Facebook and Twitter for Cheatham County. A special hash tag has been created in this effort which is #tSpotter. When this hash tag is used, it goes straight to the NWS office in Nashville. So now Cheatham County Weather has taken a professional role as well. I just recently came up with a special hash tag for Cheatham County Weather which is #chcwx. Use this on Facbook or Twitter to follow all things about Cheatham County Weather. If you use Google+, be sure to add Cheatham County Weather to your circle! I just started using it and we will see how it goes. Finally, the Facebook page has been able to bring out the prettier side of Cheatham. In the summer a photo contest was created and over 20 entries were submitted. A winner was selected, and the winning photo was used as the new Cover Photo. If someone were to ask what is the mission of Cheatham County Weather, it is this: "To inform and serve the people of Cheatham County, TN by up to the minute updates for Severe Weather with the goal of keeping people safe."
